"Lighting designer Jamie Platt has had to contend with an unconventional rig, all the lighting fixtures are recessed into the false ceiling of Capote’s apartment, which is a blessing for the historical accuracy of Farnsworth’s beautiful set. There are many well placed lamps around the room, which help add light to the space, as well as adding atmosphere and ambience to some of the scenes set during the evening. Platt’s lighting brings warmth where it is needed, and startling contrast when required, often around the movements of ‘The Swan’ drawing attention to the symbolic sequences beautifully performed by d’Amboise."

"Jamie Platt’s gorgeously cosy lighting uses glowing lamps and subtle wall lights to convey the domestic space, with a stark white spot used to track The Swan and a very effective moment when she opens the curtains to reveal the harsh bright light of a winter’s day as Capote struggles with a raging hangover."

"The work of lighting designer Jamie Platt and sound designer Adam Cork is exceptional at maintaining the focus on Tru at all times. The lights and sounds follow Tru as he waltzes around his living room, working to entrap Tru, as though he were a caged bird, cloistered in the four walls of his apartment. It works to keep the focus fixed firmly on Tyler Ferguson and his performance for the full 90 minutes."

"Truman takes delight in showing us views across the East River and D’Amboise finally opens the curtains to their full extent. No matter that the glow is coming in from Southwark – lighting designer Jamie Platt creates a shimmering effect across the furnishings and drapery that could indeed be reflections from the tidal estuary in Manhattan."
